About
My background and experience
I am a graphic designer and illustrator with a wealth of experience in both conceptual design, creative design and layout creation. I also posses a strong knowledge of printing and finishing on a production level seen more in the creative artworking section of our industry. I have worked for a number of design agencies within editorial layout and production, point of sale, retail, large format design and print, packaging design, advertising, exhibition event stand design, hospitality, food and drink, medical and even design for digital. Even today, I am always trying to learn new skills to add to my repertoire.
I possess first-hand experience working with all of the major print processes and finishes, such as Offset Lithographic, Flexographic, Retrogravure, Digital Onset, LED UV, Large Format Flatbed, Roll-fed and Screen Printing. I am also familiar with special finishes such as Foil Blocking, Metallic Finish, White & Reverse White, Varnish and Spot UV.
Having worked directly with all of the major print techniques, I have a strong understand of tolerances and limitations for each process. In my last full time position I worked within the design studio but due to my experience I also helped out in the production department, speaking directly to clients about colour separation, tolerances for trapping and helping them achieve their goals with each layout.
My passion for design and creativity never stops, always staying up-to-date with the latest trends and trying to push my abilities. I also have a teaching qualification on both a basic and intermediate level for PTTLLS, Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector. Part of the syllabus requires hands on teaching so I spent a month teaching first and second year students at higher education level in graphic design and typography. This gave me invaluable experience on teaching others all about design and how to communicate with a large group.
