THINGS I DO OUTSIDE OF WORK
Always searching for inspiration and feeding off creativity
Welcome to a little section of my website that tells of my activities and hobbies outside of work.
I am a very active person that is always doing something fun or creative, ensuring that at every turn, I am always looking for inspiration through good design that I find. I am most definitely that annoying person that studies the menu at a restaurant far too long before I even think about ordering!

THE THEATRE AND TREADING THE BOARDS
I have always been very interested in musical theatre and was thrilled when at an early age I found myself performing at school in many productions. This love for the stage continued into my adult life when I joined my first amateur dramatics society. All purely performed for fun, I have never looked back.
To date I have performed in 17 musical productions with a number of societies, often as part of the chorus but also having the fortune to land the lead role in many. The audition process is as competitive as it gets and the people I have met through this hobby have become more than friends, they are like an extended family.
The hobby does require the ability to sing, act and dance, but I promise not to break into song on a teams call!

DJING AND EVENT PLANNING
I've always been interested in music but in my teenage years I decided to learn how to DJ. This lead onto many fun nights behind the decks playing out to crowds. The highlight of which was when I lived in Ibiza, playing for a season out there to crowds of 5000. I also played in the bars in and around San Antonio and San Antonia Bay.
In 2014 I took the next step and decided to host my own DJ events which I ran on my own consecutively every month for 10 years. I'm so proud of what I achieved with my own events, making some fantastic friends along the way that I still see today. Being a graphic designer certainly has it's advantages, giving me freedom to handle all of the marketing material myself. I took inspiration for the poster artwork from my favourite abstract art movements such as Futurism, Suprematism, Cubism and one of my favourites that inspired the first ever Modo poster, Bauhaus. I also found inspiration from artist Hajime Sorayama when the night diversified into Modo Pastiche. The night changed names a few times during it's lifespan, but always had the core branding I inverted, 'MODO', which stood for 'Music Of Distinct Origin' due to it's particular music style.
Ironically, the font I chose was called 'modo' and it was a complete fluke! I still play out regularly to this day.

CHARCOAL DRAWINGS OF PETS
Hand drawing has always been of interest to me and when asked by a friend to draw their dog, I soon found that I was quite good at capturing peoples pets! Over the years I have done quite a few for family and friends.
All charcoal based with some pencil work, finished on watercolour textured paper and always in greyscale.
